Frei

Kaunislehto Open Air Museum warmly welcomes you to travel back in time to the early 1900s in Kainuu. At the museum, you can explore different buildings and enjoy their unique atmosphere. The old wooden buildings have their own history, and our friendly guides will tell you more.

The museum’s collections include extensive pearl fishing equipment. The freshwater pearl mussel, or ‘raakku,’ thrived in the clear waters of Kainuu. The ‘raakku’ was protected in 1955. You can also see a tar pit and ironworks at the museum.

Kaunislehto Open Air Museum offers an unforgettable experience for all history lovers.
